About Us

> Ron Poling   is a veteran photojournalist with more than thirty years experience as a photographer, editor and wire service administrator. As a photographer he was on the staff of The Canadian Press, United Press Canada and the Ottawa Citizen. His pictures, made on assignments in over 50 countries, have been published in newspapers, books, magazines and web sites in Canada and around the world. Magazine publications have included Macleans Magazine, Time Magazine, Sports Illustrated, Life Magazine, National Geographic and many more.

> During his thirteen years as head of the award winning Canadian Press Picture Service, he was also charged with launching the first online editorial picture archive in Canada. Now located at www.cpimages.com, the archive boasts over nine million pictures and is Canada's leading source for editorial images.

> Ron was also a lecturer at the School of Journalism at Carleton University in 1978 and 1979 before leaving for Montreal to join United Press Canada. 

> Since retiring as Exectutive Director, Picture Services, at The Canadian Press Ron Poling limits his work to his own projects and making pictures for his own enjoyment.  He also put his previous editing and event management experience to work managing the Host Photo Pool at the G8 Summit in Calgary and the G8/G20 Summits in Toronto and Huntsville in 2010.

> In retirement, Ron also designed and managed the development of an online submission and judging application for the National Newspaper Awards.
